Year of the Dog

This year for Chinese New Year we celebrated Year of the Dog. I have been working on a custom Pet Collection for almost a year now, and couldn't wait to launch it on the perfect day, Year of the Dog.

Last year I adopted my dog Sumo. He's a Samoyed breed from up north, and he was pretty much a wild street dog. When I received him, the only tag he had on his neck was one that was given to him at the Milo Foundation. It was a dog shaped tag made of aluminum, and at the moment, I knew he needed to have something better. I searched online, but I didn't feel like I found a piece refined enough for my dog, furson to a jewelry designer. Little did I know, the answer was on my neck.

I have been wearing a vintage lock necklace for over two years now that my boyfriend gave me. It's made from jade, diamonds and gold, and I always receive compliments on this piece. I decided to use this piece as the framework for his new Dog ID tag.

There is a strange obsession (albeit I LOVE IT) to have matching everything. Matching pajamas with your pet, matching underwear with your other half, why not have a matching jewelry set with your dog?
